‘‘Smoky Thursday’’
Tsiknopempti - A Cypriot Tradition
Why is there smoke everywhere?
If you walk through the old city this Thursday, you will notice the scent of grilling everywhere. This is Tsiknopempti. It is the day the whole island celebrates the start of Carnival by cooking meat over charcoal. It is not just about eating; it is about gathering before the fasting season begins.
We are keeping things authentic at Tsipouraki Mezedaki. A place you can let go of formalities and relax. Our goal is Filoxenia (hospitality)—making you feel comfortable, relaxed, and well-fed, exactly as if we invited you over to our house.
Celebrate like a local!
For this day, the kitchen takes center stage. We have designed a special Meze Selection to share. You sit back, and we bring the feast to you:
Traditional dips and warm starters.
The main event: Plenty of meat, grilled slowly over hot coals.
Homemade sides to pass around the table.
Open for Lunch and Dinner
Reservations are recommended for the day
Live Music
Food tastes better with music. We have invited local musicians to play Greek and Cypriot songs that fit the mood perfectly—lively enough to enjoy, but gentle enough to let you talk.
Lunch time: Live music by Panagiotis & Giorgos
Evening: Live music by Andrianes
